In this post, we will learn how to backup the virtual machine (image level backup) in the VMware vSphere environment. We login into Veeam backup server.
Go to Backup Job, first we input a name for new backup job and add a description. We input the job name as “Backup Job 1“. Then clicks Next.
Add the virtual machines which need to backup.
Select the virtual machines in the VMware vSphere environment.
In this demonstration, we will backup two virtual machines “myVM-A1” and “myVM-A2“. Then clicks Next.
On Storage page, it provides the ability to choose which Backup Proxy and Backup Repository will be used for the backup job. Then click Next.
On Guest Processing page, we can choose to enable application aware processing for this backup. This will enable Microsoft VSS (Volume Shadow Copy Service) to quiesce the guest OS environment and provide an application consistent backup. Then click Next.
On Schedule page, we can setup backup schedule. If we schedule the job to run automatically, check “Run the Job Automatically” and select the preferred scheduling. If we schedule the manual backup, we need to specific backup window of operation. Then clicks Apply.
On the Summary page, we can review the settings. Check the “Run the Job when I click Finish” to run the backup job. Click Finish.
The working area displays a list of all backup jobs. Click Backup Job 1 to see more information.
